This is the fullest, most relaxed way to ride the Ha Giang Loop – the Classic with an extra night in the remote Tay village of Du Gia. You’ll enjoy private en-suite rooms throughout, roughly four hours of riding a day, and a route that reaches beyond the standard sights.

Day 1: Ha Giang – Thai An – Lung Tam – Lao Va Chai – Yen Minh – Vuong Chinh Duc Palace – Lao Sa Village

Depart from Ha Giang City and begin your journey to Khau Lan Waterfall, a hidden gem nestled in the forested hills just outside the city. After a short scenic trek through bamboo groves, you’ll arrive at this cascading natural wonder—perfect for a refreshing start to the day. Continue on winding roads to Quan Ba, where you’ll encounter stunning landscapes and the legendary Heaven Gate viewpoint, offering dramatic vistas of the Twin Mountains. Your next stop is Lung Tam Village, home to the H’mong ethnic group, renowned for their traditional flax weaving. Here, you’ll witness the full crafting process—from harvesting to dyeing with indigo and weaving vibrant textiles by hand.

Stop for lunch at a local eatery surrounded by nature. Continue your journey to Lao Va Chai Viewpoint, a lesser-known panoramic stop that reveals sweeping views over the vast valleys and ridgelines. Take a break to enjoy the serenity and capture some memorable photos.
Lao Sa Village
Afternoon:
Pass through Yen Minh, a tranquil town surrounded by pine forests and rice terraces, offering a peaceful glimpse into rural highland life. Continue your journey over the dramatic curves of Tham Ma Pass, a winding ascent known for its S-shaped switchbacks and panoramic views—an iconic photography stop in Ha Giang. As you descend, pass through Pho Cao, a charming village characterized by its ancient earthen houses and vibrant buckwheat fields (in season), where H’mong families live in harmony with the landscape. Then tackle the legendary Chín Khoanh Pass (Nine Turns Pass), famous for its sharp bends and breathtaking perspective over layered mountain slopes. Finally, arrive at the iconic Vuong Chinh Duc Palace, the former royal residence of the H’mong King. Nestled in a rocky valley, this majestic stone mansion blends Chinese, French, and H’mong architectural styles, telling a vivid story of ethnic pride and political power. Explore its grand courtyards, spiral staircases, and moss-covered towers to step into a bygone era.

Arrive at Lao Sa Village, where you’ll spend the night in a welcoming local homestay. Enjoy a traditional dinner prepared by your hosts, followed by the opportunity to learn more about the local customs and daily life.

Rising 1,470 meters above sea level, this monumental site stands as a national symbol and offers panoramic views across the border into China and the surrounding karst landscape. After taking in the breathtaking scenery, journey south to Dong Van Town, where you’ll explore the atmospheric Old Quarter—a blend of French colonial architecture and H’mong cultural life. Continue the ride to the edge of the plateau and take on the spectacular Sky Path, a dramatic cliffside trail with sweeping views of the UNESCO-recognized Dong Van Karst Plateau.

Noon:
Enjoy a traditional lunch in Dong Van before making your way to the crown jewel of the region: Ma Pi Leng Pass. Along this breathtaking pass, trek to the Great White Cliff (Vách Đá Trắng)—a stunning vertical rock wall offering a heart-stopping viewpoint over the Tu San Canyon, the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia. The emerald river snaking between the towering cliffs is a surreal and unforgettable highlight of the journey.
Tu San Cayon
Afternoon:
Ride into Meo Vac, a culturally vibrant town surrounded by limestone mountains. Check into a welcoming local homestay and take time to unwind.

Evening:
If available, explore the local Meo Vac night market, where food stalls, traditional crafts, and the sounds of H’mong flute music fill the evening air. Rest in your homestay nestled beneath the starlit peaks.

Local guides may share legends about the stream and its name, which translates to “Dragon Pearl.”

Noon:
Continue to Mau Due, a rustic H’mong and Dao-inhabited commune perched along mountain ridges. Stop for a hearty home-style lunch with ingredients such as smoked pork, upland vegetables.
Road to Mau Due
Afternoon:
Head south on winding roads to Du Gia Village, a peaceful haven surrounded by karst mountains and green paddies. Upon arrival, hike or ride a short distance to the Du Gia Waterfall, a tiered cascade tucked into the jungle. The natural pool beneath the falls invites a refreshing swim, and shaded rocks provide the perfect place to relax, take photos, or enjoy a moment of silence in nature.
Du Gia Village
Evening:
Return to your Tay ethnic homestay, where you’ll be treated to a traditional dinner cooked over wood fire. Engage in conversations with your hosts, learn about their customs and dialects, or join an informal music session—sometimes accompanied by rice wine and stories passed down for generations.
